4 best night art markets on Kauai

Jul 30, 2018 | Activities, Attractions, Kauai

After a busy day hiking, golfing, and sunbathing (yes, this takes some effort, too), you might be tempted to visit one of the many fine restaurants on Kauai and head home to your accommodations. But you would be missing out on a wonderful slice of Kauai life – the night-time art markets and fairs.

There are a number of night art markets held throughout the island, which combine local arts and crafts from skilled artisans, Hawaiian-style music that will get your feet tapping, and amazing street food.

Here are our top four-night art markets – but speak with your reception team or concierge for further information.

Hanapepe Town Friday Art Night

This popular art walk and street food market takes place every Friday night from 5-9 pm. A 20-year island tradition, over 15 galleries and stores stay open late in cute Hapapepe Town, including stores, restaurants and food trucks. Many local artists set up kiosks to show their work and local performers play Hawaiian music in the streets.

In addition to local artists, photographers, jewelers, massages, and food trucks, there is a kid’s theater where kids can play, read, color, sing, and play with stuffed animals.

Our best advice is to come early because parking can be a challenge, and come hungry! Also, walk the swinging bridge and take some photos.

Kilauea Night Market

This night market takes place every last Saturday from 4-8pm in the new Porter Pavilion at the Anaina Hou Community Park. Arrive early and enjoy everything that the community park has to offer, including botanical gardens, mini golf and the skate park. Then enjoy refreshments as you browse over 25 artisans offering jewellery, fabrics, paintings, local food and clothing and much more.

Make sure you stay for dinner provided by local food vendors, including Aida’s Family Cafe, El Rey Del Mar Mexican Food Truck and Taste of Thai, listening to the gentle sounds of the Island Grass Band and Magic Kauai’s Ed Morales.

Kilauea Night Art Market

Old Town Kapaa Art Walk

This night walk takes place on the first Saturday of each month from 5pm to 8pm.

Kapaa Town is the place to be for its monthly Art Walk, when the main street bursts with vendors and artisans selling Kauai arts and crafts to the sounds of some of the island’s best musicians. There is a boho vibe throughout the town with sidewalk sales and food stands. Many of the town’s shops and restaurants are open too.

Make sure you get there early and enjoy everything from electronic violins and ukulele players to rock bands and children playing the bells. It’s a great way to enjoy Kauai life like a resident.

Princeville Night Market

The Princeville Night Market takes place at the Princeville Shopping Centre every second Sunday of the month from 4pm – 8pm

This large market, just minutes from Ali’i Kai Resort, brings over 50 artisans from around Kauai to sell their art, pottery, photography, woodworking, jewellery, clothing, and home goods.

As you browse, listen to live music from bluegrass and folk to classical and cultural island tunes. Then head for the food trucks and booths for a taste of Kauai’s amazing food culture.

You can enjoy these amazing night art markets during your vacation at Ali’i Kai Resort in our premium two-bedroom luxury condos. For the latest rental packages and special offers, contact the team here.
